  2. Well after many years of wanting to build my own bike I finally was able to get a project bike. It is a 1979 XS650. It needs a lot of work and I need to do a lot of research and reading. I have never worked on a Yamaha before so this will be a learning experience from the word go. My plans are to go through the motor and get it rebuilt. I have a second motor that is seized but I want to see if I can get it running as well. I have not looked at it to see how bad things are. I want to hard tail the frame. I want to do a 2" drop seat hardtail. I want it as barebones as I can go. Nothing special nothing too fancy. It is a budget build with no time frame. So I will asking questions here and posting progress pics as I go along. Here it is as it sits right now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Got some work done on the bike. Got some work on the head light bracket. Got the tank bungs in and tank mounted. Also got some work done on the seat pan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Thought I would start a thread just to post my work in instead of starting a new thread every time. So to start things off got started on a new wallet. Wanted a traditional feel but with a different flare to it. So I did my first ever basket weave tooling using my swivel knife. And threw in a traditional tattoo flash style rose in the middle of some western style tooling. Dyed it with a British tan. I will be airbrushing the edges black and around the tooling with black as well. Then I will antique it with a medium brown paste.
  7. Some other work I have done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Well finally got to actually work on the bike. Got a set of risers with a set of temporary bars on. And got a kick stand on. Had to get a broken bolt out of the frame so I could get in the hardware installed. But for the first time since I have owned the bike it is not being held up by blocks or sitting on the stand. Also my wife got me a tank for the bike. I am missing some bushings for the rear wheel that is my next thing to look for. And need I get some bolts for the shocks. After that I will have a good roller. I also ordered some parts to install the tank and a head light today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
