I got the seat dished out nicely with lots of sitting for testing, then got some light duty trailer springs, they still seemed to stiff ,so I got some springs off a old snowmachine, with a single spring it seemed more bouncy but with the 2 lighter springs tensioned against each other,it seems less bouncy.the seat mount has a spring on it to help control the lift on the front of the seat.20120720_231220.jpg20120720_231031.jpgand thats were Im at now, starting to think about my pegs, that will probably be the next update....I bought this for $400 with a box of take off parts,I sold the tank for $500 on ebay, the stock exhaust for $300,and I think I made about $100 on other stuff..

got some new tools,i realized i need more rake so off i go probably set me back a few more years ,never machined nothing before so ,20121219_142039_zps24f2c28e.jpgcom/albums/k634/diiirtbag/20121219_140229_zpseee405e6.jpg[/img]20121219_143347_zpsac2f8ef9.jpg20121219_170631_zps4ed3a2d5.jpg55_zps7beb0316.jpg[/img]20121219_182208_zps9c3e1ec4.jpg

this was the original plan,i have had the stuff to build a front end for 4 years, started this bike about 5yrs back.didnt think i would get anything done this winter but severed my bicep tendon so sleding is on the backburner, gonna be hibernating in the shop for the winter like the rest of you..

Nice work, looking forward to seeing this finished. I was looking at your seat mount, I like it. That double leaf looks like it has a progressive action. I have a minor suggestion, the edge of the lower spring may gall the top leaf. I have seen it happen on some spring packs. So, if you can round out that corner to a gentle radius and polish it pretty smooth that may save you the repair later. I have seen some really thin teflon stuff that you can put on the contact point of the lower for even less friction, but I can't recall what its called.

Just and idea.

thanks for the tip ,i had planned on finishing it but didnt really consider a radius and polish but makes sence for a proper finish and performance...heres a few more pics of some progress, like i said i am learning to machine with this project,i did the first shaft perfect somehow, still have to thread the end, then messed up the 2nd ,then the 3rd,then the one in the lathe was perfect one side but shaved just a hair to much again on the other didnt account for enough for the final polish to get it smooth for the bushing surface, the other ones i shaved .10 to much makeing roughing cuts, jeez i am learning a bit of patience here goes a long way,so next up finish the shafts and bore the links out to fit.

going to brace the pegs a bit maybe and still thinking about how to go about the pedals, this would be the point i put it away (after a small bit of progress)but all I can really do effectively in my spare time is a bit of light fabrication with me being on the mend,so really thinking about the next steps and how to go about them..

Dude....That is one kool-ass bike. Those forwards are fuggin' awesome, too. I dig yer heel-toe shifter and all the brass parts, too. Keep up the killer work and get healed up...Maybe by the time she's done you'll be mended and the weather will be good enough to burn the road up!!!
